Manali
is a well-known adventure and tourist spot at the end of the beautiful Kullu
valley, also called "Valley of Gods".
It is the starting point for many adventure and discovery tours to remote
areas such as Lahaul, Chandra valley, and further on, Ladakh
(Jammu & Cashemire state) to the north. Spiti and Kinnaur
valleys (near the Tibetan border) in the east, Kangra and Chamba
valleys in the west (going through Dharamsala, seat of the Exiled Tibetan
Government) can also be accessed from Manali.
Manali
(altitude: 2,000 m) enjoys cool temperatures in summer and the whole area
is a paradise for nature lovers and for travellers seeking the essence of
local traditions and cultures. Manali also offers extensive accommodation
facilities, travel services and shopping possibilities.
You
may choose to travel by car (Jeep Safari) and/or
walk (Trekking). You will discover these numerous
treasures:
|
|
|
-
wooden
temples and traditional villages of the Kullu and Chamba valleys (of
hindu culture),
-
rocky
landscapes, buddhist monasteries and high altitude villages of the
Zanskar, Lahaul and Spiti valleys (of tibetan culture),
-
green
valleys forming grassy oasis in the middle of the desert, high
altitude plateaus of buddhist Ladakh,
-
a
unique mixture of both cultures in Kinnaur,
-
and
the ever warm and smiling greetings from the Himalayan people!
